Ioanna Kostarella

Academic Trajectory & Research Interests

Ioanna Kostarella is an Associate Professor of Journalism at the Department of Journalism and Mass Media of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and has long professional experience as a journalist. She teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level in her field of expertise, and has published articles in the discipline's leading peer-reviewed journals (Journalism, Journalism Practice, Digital Journalism), as well as book chapters and conference proceedings. She is currently the principal investigator for the AUTh team of ECHO, an EU-funded project focused on media literacy. Her research interests include journalism and new media, journalism and Artificial Intelligence, media literacy, and communication for development and social change.
